Bodie, Ca is the quintessential ghost town, located just east of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range and sitting at an elevation of 8,400 feet. Gold was discovered in Bodie in the late 1800s and it became a boom town full of debauchery with thousands of residents. When the gold dried up so did the town, today there are 200 structures left in a state of arrested decay. The homes and businesses are still full of goods and belongings. We had a great time visiting and even the girls thought it was cool!
I love to oil paint. Some of them are similar to things like these...older places, abandoned and rather desolate. It leads the imagination to wonder what they were like when they were thriving.
