Girls Gone into the Wild

The Ladies and I hit the road for an all girls camping trip to Lassen Volcanic National Park.  It is located in a remote area of North Eastern California and known primarily for it's geothermic activity. It is the only national park to contain all four major types of volcanos;  Lassen Peak, the largest plug dome volcano in the world and still active, is a commanding 10,457' and last erupted in 1915, there are also shield, cinder cone and strato volcanos.  Along with the volcanos there are; geysers, boiling mud pits, fumaroles spewing sulphur, and hot springs.  I was prepared and excited to see this crazy landscape, and the geothermic spots are crazy. I felt like I was on another planet, but what I wasn't prepared for was the gorgeousnessocity of the rest of the park.  It is part of the Cascade Mountain range with alpine peaks, waterfalls, crystal clear lakes and meadows.  The drive through the park is amazing and terrifying with sheer cliffs and no guardrails as seems to be the custom in California.  We will definitely have to go back, we didn't even begin to see everything there is to see and even the girls had fun!
